*SYNOPSIS*
Kara

I should start trusting my gut instincts more often. Maybe then I wouldnít have wasted so much time on Noah, the lying SOB who had the honor of calling himself my boyfriend for way too long.

Now I no longer have to feel guilty about sneaking stolen glances at Club Thriveís family bodyguard. Slade manages to make my body react in the most sinful ways just by being near me, and now that Iím fair gameÖIím starting to suspect he might feel the same way.

Slade

Iíve been hired to protect the Club Thrive family, and that includes protecting Kara from low-life scumbags like her ex-boyfriend. Unfortunately, I donít think this is the last weíve seen of Noah. Heís got bad news stamped all over his forehead, and if my instincts are anything to go by, heís not going to let Kara go that easily.

But Iíve waited too damn long for the chance to make Kara mine. Nothing and no one will stop me from keeping her safeÖnot even the Devil himself.

**AUTHOR BIO**
Alison has been writing for over two years now and in that she has released thirteen books with two more coming in 2017. She writes in two genres military romance and romantic suspense. She’s currently working on a sports romance that is expected to be released in 2018.
Alison enjoyed reading as a child and found her passion for it again in 2011 when E.L. Jamesí Fifty Shades of Grey was released. Her love of reading was re-ignited and she continued reading other books in the same genre. In the summer of 2015, she decided to give writing a try and two weeks later Finding Love was born. As soon as she finished the first book, she began writing the second book in the series. Her third book was finished by the time Finding Love had been accepted for publication. Alison discovered she has a passion for writing and has spent the last year meeting new readers and sharing the love she has for writing.

I don’t give out 5-star reviews freely, especially for romance because it’s so hard to find anything original in my experience.

That said, Anne Conley managed to get another one out of me, and for a #RomanticSuspense at that.

I highly recommend her Pierce Securities series. I’m behind on it, having just now read #4 and I couldn’t put it down.

PelicanFreak’s 5-star review:

Short version:
I couldn’t put this book down, from start to finish. I tried to – really- but then I missed it, bad. I had to pick it right back up. It gripped me and wouldn’t let go. I’ve a terrible attention span and not much holds my attention at all these days, let alone sucks me in like that. Clearly Conley was put here to write.
Detailed version:
Cover:
Unoriginal in concept but gorgeous and professionally-graphiced.
Editing/Proofing:
Clearly professional. Very few errors noticed.
Formatting:
Again, professional and the book is gorgeous on the inside too. Clean, easy read.
Character development/design:
All of the characters in this series are so perfectly designed, that you’d think she’s basing them on real people. The continuity from one book to the next in personality and everything else flows flawlessly. It’s really easy to get really attached really quickly to the protagonists. As the series goes on, and I feel all attached to characters I got to know in earlier books, the later books have that much more because I get glimpses at my ‘old friends’ while making new ones. This makes me hate the antagonists that much more passionately and gets me that much more invested in the whole thing. It’s all completely brilliant.
POV:
Flawless. Third person, rotating voices. Never any question of what is who, or feeling unfinished when one wraps and another takes over.
Overall:
I find everything predictable; usually within a chapter or two, I already know how the whole book’s going to play out, maybe even future books. With Conley… well, she doesn’t do it like everyone else. She manages to NOT write the same old store everyone else has already written. She mixes it up. She also has me so engaged that I’m too busy greedily absorbing the words and turning the pages to worry about predictions.
I can feel her characters’ feelings, I can feel their love for each other.
I’m always left wanting more- but not in a cliffhanger way at all. Just more of the whole Pierce Securities world because it’s such a great place to be. Reading Conley truly provides entertainment and a brief escape from reality and is probably detrimental to my mental well being somehow. I cannot recommend this series enough.
FIVE STARS because that’s all the

This series is a serious favorite of mine and I’ve had the fortune of reading each installation so far.

Here are my reviews for the stories that are included in this collection!

#5, Asanbosam:
5 out of 5 stars
I’m so excited that this book is here, I may just go read through it again.

This book wastes no time digging in and, as I’m learning is typical of Dani I am taken back in time and dropped right into the story. Her way of telling a story and describing the times leaves me no choice but to do a bit of time traveling. This book gripped me from the very beginning and despite the fact that I’ve read several books by this author, I was still surprised in the end. Thought I had it all figured out , but not quite.

This story is just creepy enough that it is still believable when in the moment (and when out made me think a bit). As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this installment of ‘A World of Vampires’ and eagerly await the next.

Overall well spoken and well edited.

#6, Lilith:
5 out of 5 stars

Cover: Gorgeous and fitting with the story.
Formatting: Beautiful and professionally done.
Editing/Proofing: Very well done – very few mistakes found.

I am so excited to see that another installment of the ‘A World of Vampires’ series is live; I’ve come to really crave them. This one definitely left me wanting more and I feel there’s room to expand upon the story, should the author want to – though at the same time she did wrap it up.

Hoots has a way of just picking me up (from right in the middle of my shift which is awesome) and dropping me into some past land. The times come alive as I read her writing. The descriptions are short and sweet but detailed giving me a clear picture. This installment has action, but my favorite thing – and maybe this was intentional, or maybe I am just twisted- was the fact that there was humor slipped into such dark times.
I was able to fully appreciate the grave situation our men found themselves in while having a couple of laughs at their expense.

The glimpses we get of Lilith leave me wanting to learn more about her – she is very intriguing. I can’t seem to get enough of this series, that seems to be borne of legends and has a way of putting a fun twist on some classic tales.
Recommended for fans of any genre!

#7, Peuchen:
5 out of 5 stars
Cover: Gorgeous and fitting.
Editing/ Proofing: Very few mistakes noted – professional.
Formatting: Gorgeous as always. This series is probably the most beautiful I’ve read!

The book opens with an age-old question and some deep pondering. I love how it gets me thinking WHILE roping me in. Typical Dani Hoots read – and conforming to the expectations I have formed based on the rest of the series so far – I’m hooked and cannot put it down.

Apachita – the MC – is a really great, strong, objective character. Consistent and admirable, and offering wisdom while telling her tale that includes drama and adventure. A really great read.

My only complaint is: it ended. Left me wanting more 🙂

*I received this book for free in exchange for agreeing to post an honest, unbiased review.

#8, Aufhocker:
5 out of 5 stars

Brilliant writing.
Gorgeous cover.
Beautiful formatting.
Nearly flawless editing and proofing.

Well developed characters that I truly hope Hoots some day revisits this series and expands on some of the individual stories. As always with this series, I’m left very much wanting more. Will Ade go on to do what he’s determined to do?

You’ll want to read this though to find out what it is – and how it came to be. A really good read that introduces us to a brief look at Berlin in the 1960’s. Dark times for many. It seems like a feast or famine situation and it’s always enlightening to see how those in the famine side of things fare – with the hope and determination that they seem to find in what seems to be a hopeless situation.

Just as the reader is acquainted with the situation – volatile as it is – it escalates a bit and as things are explained even more drama comes into light. This was SUCH a fun read – I recommend it to everyone. It’s quick – too short in the sense that it left me wanting more but – perfect for a fun, quick read.

5 out of 5 darkly entertaining stars.

Another hit from Hoots!

Pelican Freak’s 5-Star Review:

“I have killed creatures and men. I have found terrible powers within me and met people and things who should never be but are.”

When I stumbled upon this quote, deep into this epic read, I felt that it summarized a bit of Areenna’s journey but might also serve to intrigue anyone who reads it and hasn’t yet read this book… I share it here because it just jumped out at me as so… fitting.

I’m not usually a reader of epic journeys, fantasy or sci-fi type reads but this book makes me think maybe I should be.
First of all – it does take place in the future but … it’s not one of these far-fetched futuristic deals. There is a very reasonable explanation for how the state of things came to be this way , including but not exclusively limited to our actual current state of affairs with the religious war / terrorism situation that we unfortunately seem to have going on.

There is a journey involved and without posting any spoilers – it is as much about discovering oneself as it is the main characters carrying out their task to save their people.
I become so lost in this world – I still miss it, having finished this book a few weeks ago. It stayed with me more than most. Some books you just want to devour while others devour you… this one definitely devoured me for the duration – I cannot say enough.

If you’re looking for a brief escape, it’s right here.

And here’s Pelican Freak’s sarcastic review:
FINALLY ! I have always wanted to pay 5 times as much for a “lady-colored” pen!
As soon as they come up with computers for her, I’ll be able to modernize but until then, at least I can write like a girl.

I would prefer for them to be scented and come with cute little disposable, decorative packages like my tampons do but, I guess we can’t have it all. Thank you Bic for making “pens for her”. Writing in blood was getting painful and all the other writing implements are just too masculine.

Introducing Anne Conley’s latest release, Click, Book #3 in the Pierce Securities series.  Now available at Amazon, and other retailers soon!
BLURB
Jake Callahan has a problem, and the only people who can fix it are the guys with Pierce Securities.  Except Jake needs a woman.  Miriam Bartoli will happily play the part of a sexy woman to get what the client needs, especially since playing mom to an office full of alpha males and recent surgery has wreaked havoc on her femininity.  Can she fight her attraction with the target long enough to get what the client needs?  Or will this case of mistaken identity and clicking with the wrong man be the end of her?

EXCERPT

“What’s perfect?”

“This right here.  The stars.  Aren’t they beautiful?”  She glanced over to find Jake staring at her.

“You’re beautiful.”

His hand cupped her neck and he came in close.  “Can I?”

Miriam didn’t respond.  She licked her lips as if they weren’t listening to her brain, which was emphatically yelling at her to stop this.

Jake obviously wasn’t listening to her internal monologue as his lips captured hers in a tentative kiss.

Her brain reminded her he was an asshole at the bar, he’d given her coke yesterday, he was mixed up in Tres Lobos, and he stole from his parents.  It was screaming at her that this was a bad idea.
But at the touch of his lips on hers, the lizard part of her brain—the part which was just made to eat, sleep, and have sex—told her to go for it.  She whimpered into his lips in defeat, and his arms went around her waist, pulling her close as he deepened the kiss.  Jake’s lips were soft, his mouth warm, and the aftershave exquisite.  She didn’t want him to ever let her go.

“Oh my God,” she breathed at him between kisses.  His tongue delved into her mouth, but before she lost herself completely, she pulled back.  “We can’t do this.”

He kissed her again, muttering against her mouth, “Why not?”

“I can think of half a dozen reasons off the top of my head.”

That seemed to stop him, but he didn’t let go of her.  Jake just looked at her quizzically, as if he saw absolutely nothing wrong with the fact they were kissing.  He apparently didn’t realize he had a dual personality and was a complete shit half the time he existed.  He finally looked up, taking a deep breath.  When he refocused on her, his eyes hardened into something wild. Something feral.  Something passionate.  And a little scary.

“Blame it on the stars,” was all he said before his mouth captured hers again.  This kiss was different from the first.  Where the first one was tentative \ and exploratory, this kiss was devouring.  It was like he’d gotten a taste of nirvana and craved more.  It was heady, the way his tongue was mating with hers in a fiery kiss that was quickly undoing her cell by cell.  Her last coherent thought was that Simon was going to kill her.

Check out the other books in this series, Craze and Wire:
