I hadn’t heard of whiffer sniffers before this campaign; but now I’m hooked. I’ve already been online, digging for retired ones to overpay for as holiday gifts and wishlisted a few for myself. They just smell SO GOOD.

Not sure what I’m talking about? Check out their website:

http://www.whiffersniffers.com

Or a pic of my favorite (of course my fave is retired!).

SuperDillyYoProductImage3_large

They’re adorable and have fun names. The pickle above is Dilly Yo. He came in a clip on, as well as a “super sniffer” – bigger, scented plushie. These make amazing gifts and they made for a super fun party.

I had an end-of-summer celebration with some games and thanks to Tryazon and Whiffer Sniffers, I had loads of stickers, collector’s guides and clip-ons to give out as both door prizes and game prizes. They sent me 8 re-useable totes all put together with merch, as well as a box of extra sheets of stickers and clip-ons. I had four other families over, each with littles. You’ll only see their hands in the pic, as I wasn’t about to slap them with forced pics for sharing online as a requirement for the gifts I had for them.

The kids and adults both ended up loving the whiffer sniffers. I wasn’t sure if the kids would even like them; I definitely didn’t expect to love them myself or to see some of the parents fighting over them. They just smell so good! I wrestled a blueberry guy from my neighbor and hid it. I know, I’m a jerk, but that smell! I had to have it!

Here are a few of the ones that went home with some of my guests.

WhifferSniffersParty

Three of my guests came away with that Banana – and wow! He smells like banana-scented candy. Delicious. The cotton candy one, I couldn’t keep my nose off and that strawberry shake looking dude came in a GOLD FOIL package, which means he’s rare. What a find!  They all smell so real and potent. I kinda just wanna surround myself with them. The smells!

I love the bags too, I’m not gonna lie: I totally kept a few for myself, as they’re pretty and I’m enjoying taking them shopping. I may have kept a sheet or two of stickers too; they smell JUST AS GOOD as the clip-ons. It’s unreal.

If you’re going to purchase any of these, I’ve got a coupon code for you, for a limited time. Whiffer Sniffers has generously provided a 20% off coupon code that can be used on www.whiffersniffers.com or Amazon.comTRYWSS45

PelicanFreak’s 4-star review:

First of all, this book is very professionally presented and you’d never know it’s a debut release from a new author. The formatting is beautiful and the editing and proofing are really well done. Clearly a lot of work and love went into this book to give it a professional appearance.

If you want the short version:
Likeable. Lots of drama, fun to read. Good characters. Well-edited. Predictable but still addictive.

If you want the detailed version:
Editing/Proofing:
5 stars
Found only a couple minor typos, nothing that distracted from the reading experience.

Formatting:
5 stars
Beautiful!

Cover:
5 stars
I love that it’s not quite like every other romance cover out there. It’s pretty and still relevant.
(Also: The title is perfection! It describes the book simply in both metaphorical and literal senses.)

Continuity:
4 stars

Character design:
4 stars
Characters are fairly well done. Not always perfect continuity with the personalities but it’s Book 1 in a series and they’ve got room to grow. Still the reader gets at least the gist of who they are and a bit of what they’ve been through. Perceptive readers probably get a peek into what’s to come for the other characters too.

POV:
5 stars
The reader is treated to rotating POVs, first person. There’s never any confusion as to who is speaking, it’s done flawlessly.

The Story:

The book started out FULL of action, drama, regret and pain. It is a brilliantly tragic opening and sucked me right in. That’s about all of the military action there is, however the lives of the main characters are forever changed as a result of those moments so I’d still say it’s okay to deem this a military romance or military drama.

From the first few pages, I can easily predict how the whole book will play out, so I won’t give any originality or unpredictability points, but that’s 99% of media these days. What matters is that despite this, I wasn’t bored. In fact, I was hooked – I liked the characters and wanted to know all that I could about them. I love that baking and cooking are prevalent and the MCs all move to the South. These are all things I could relate to and just made it that much more dynamic and fun to follow, with little side adventures and food to dream about. 🙂

Some of the sex scenes… they’d start out with plenty of heat but inevitably there’d by a cheesy line or something that I just couldn’t quite get into. I did overall appreciate the sex scenes though, for not exactly being the same old that I usually find. Robbins manages to describe them a bit differently than everyone else, which is refreshing.

The last fifteen percent or so kind of dragged for me. After being so hooked and unable to put it down for the first seventy-plus percent, it took me a little effort to get through it. I probably could take or leave the last bit. But ultimately am really impressed that this is a debut novel, it seems Robbins is a natural and I hope she keeps writing. She’s made me a fan.

I’d give the story… somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars for keeping me hooked, but lacking originality. Overall, I’d give the book as a whole 4 stars.

I don’t give out 5-star reviews freely, especially for romance because it’s so hard to find anything original in my experience.

That said, Anne Conley managed to get another one out of me, and for a #RomanticSuspense at that.

I highly recommend her Pierce Securities series. I’m behind on it, having just now read #4 and I couldn’t put it down.

PelicanFreak’s 5-star review:

Short version:
I couldn’t put this book down, from start to finish. I tried to – really- but then I missed it, bad. I had to pick it right back up. It gripped me and wouldn’t let go. I’ve a terrible attention span and not much holds my attention at all these days, let alone sucks me in like that. Clearly Conley was put here to write.
Detailed version:
Cover:
Unoriginal in concept but gorgeous and professionally-graphiced.
Editing/Proofing:
Clearly professional. Very few errors noticed.
Formatting:
Again, professional and the book is gorgeous on the inside too. Clean, easy read.
Character development/design:
All of the characters in this series are so perfectly designed, that you’d think she’s basing them on real people. The continuity from one book to the next in personality and everything else flows flawlessly. It’s really easy to get really attached really quickly to the protagonists. As the series goes on, and I feel all attached to characters I got to know in earlier books, the later books have that much more because I get glimpses at my ‘old friends’ while making new ones. This makes me hate the antagonists that much more passionately and gets me that much more invested in the whole thing. It’s all completely brilliant.
POV:
Flawless. Third person, rotating voices. Never any question of what is who, or feeling unfinished when one wraps and another takes over.
Overall:
I find everything predictable; usually within a chapter or two, I already know how the whole book’s going to play out, maybe even future books. With Conley… well, she doesn’t do it like everyone else. She manages to NOT write the same old store everyone else has already written. She mixes it up. She also has me so engaged that I’m too busy greedily absorbing the words and turning the pages to worry about predictions.
I can feel her characters’ feelings, I can feel their love for each other.
I’m always left wanting more- but not in a cliffhanger way at all. Just more of the whole Pierce Securities world because it’s such a great place to be. Reading Conley truly provides entertainment and a brief escape from reality and is probably detrimental to my mental well being somehow. I cannot recommend this series enough.
FIVE STARS because that’s all the

I’m stoked to have finally read, what for me has been a highly-anticipated release: Book 4 in Trish Marie Dawson’s Find Me series!

This is my favorite series, and the one that introduced me to one of my favorite authors. Dawson has an annoying habit of leaving me hanging so I’ve been going mental waiting for this one.

It did not disappoint.

Pelican Freak’s 5-star review:

I’ve been a fan of Dawson since ‘I Hope You Find Me’ and this is actually my favorite book series and she’s one of my two favorite authors.
So, it was with lots of excitement but also very, very high expectations that I embarked on Book 4 of her Find Me series. I’m not an easy person to impress, and was left hanging where the first three installments left off – still this one does not disappoint.
When we left off in Book 3, Finding Hope, it of course, had grown increasingly dark, being the third book in a post apocalyptic series. I was impressed, constantly, with how perfectly she managed to pull off the escalating darkness of the mood, while keeping it real. Nothing about this series strikes me as far-fetched and the changes we see in the characters’ demeanors seem appropriate for what they’ve been through. This installment just picks up where its predecessor left off, tone-wise. Despite it growing darker, there is still always hope, thanks to brilliantly designed characters.  Dawson is incredibly brilliant in this way.
As with all of her other books, I feel like I’ve watched it all play out. Her descriptions are so real, so raw and so detailed -without droning on annoyingly though- that I forget I’m looking at words and just watch all of the scenes play out in my mind. This is how all books should be, yes, but Dawson is one of the few authors who does this for me. When I had to put the book down, I missed it. This series stays with me and I’m certain I’ll be re-reading the entire series, greedily. Again.
Despite the rotating point-of-views, there is no confusion. This way, the reader has insight into the various ways the different characters see things. It’s fascinating at times to view one character’s view of their relationship with that person, versus the other person’s. It was always a great way to showcase the various characters’ mindsets: some remained ever-hopeful, despite having lost everything. Others had developed some very interesting coping mechanisms that added drama to the group dynamic, adding another element of fun to the overall reading experience.
Overall I’d give this 5 stars for keeping me engaged, not an easy feat, staying with me after I’ve finished it, and being professionally done.

Pelican Freak’s 5-star review:

I read this book a while ago and just realized I hadn’t posted a review.
This book’s actually been on my mind, which is what made me realize I should post a review… months after finishing it, this sage and its characters are still on my mind.

The characters are complex – even for teenagers, which the mains are. I’m very attached to both of them and very much admire them as people. Even though they’re still young, they know who they are and mostly what they want out of life. They’re both secure in their values and wise beyond their years due to having to grow up fast. Down to earth. You’ll love to root for them and hate on their oppressors.

The author does a brilliant job of alternating the point of views. There’s no confusion, and it doesn’t get boring or leave me hanging – she times it perfectly and makes the transitions perfectly.
The story has some action, plenty of drama, some scandal, a bit of mystery, and some fantasy and probably more that I’m leaving out.
In other words, there’s something for everyone.

I find the cover to be professionally designed and relevant and the formatting/editing to be well done and professional. Very easy on the eyes.
I’m dying for more of this series and I truly hope Saltis keeps writing whether it’s to satisfy my own need for more of these characters or to bring new ones into the world.
5 stars all the way.

I’ve only had this dreamcatcher for a short time – Hubby snapped it up promptly on its arrival. I noticed that it’s really well made. No feather shedding or otherwise shedding or falling apart – no matter how much I handled it. It was folded up, wrapped in plastic and included a cute little purple mesh gift bag. The gift bag is a nice touch – but the dreamcatcher absolutely will not fit in it.

As for whether or not it works- obviously: subjective and a bit soon to determine. At this point, our lack of bad dreams for the past several nights could be coincidence.

Either way, it looks cool. It’s well made. I’m able to tug on it and still no breakage or rips. I’m happy with it.
It’s listed as handmade, and I haven’t found anything to contradict this – the detail is good and it’s nice and tightly wrapped.

I received this dreamcatcher for free in exchange from my honest review.

I’m here to share one of my favorite gel pen sets with you. This set of 40 by Art-N-Fly has been great.

Lately, I’ve enjoyed coloring with gel pens so I’m burning through them quickly and as a result I’ve tested several sets. Some of them only come half full, others bleed or are scratchy if they work at all.

If you’re looking for a set that writes smooth, doesn’t bleed through the pages, doesn’t leak and shows up nice and full, I recommend this one.

http://amzn.to/26ZUoYX

At just $19.99, it’s priced lower than some of the other sets I’ve tried that don’t work as well. No nonsense – comes in a thin, plastic container. It’s soft plastic, so it’s not something I’d reuse, but it’s served me well for storing this set.

The glitter pens are really glittery, and so – gorgeous. The neons are bright and glow in the blacklight. All 40 of them work well and have a smooth flow. Great for writing, also fine for coloring in detailed areas, etc.

I received this set at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest review. When it runs out, I’ll likely re-purchase this one as it’s proven reliable.
